Harry & Buffy, Jo & Joss: Transmedia Fan Journeys

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Participants will explore the definition and key principles of transmedia storytelling; how the Potter novels set the stage for cross-platform activities within fandom and popular culture; and how other fandoms and creators have done this in similar and different ways. Among the topics discussed will be differences between affirmational (source-oriented) and transformative (fanon rather than canon) work, often referred to as “What Is” versus “ What If?” and ways advertisers use transmedia across media platforms, people, and places.
