Aristotle wrote that the tragic hero has to be a man “who is not eminently good and just, yet whose misfortune is brought about not by vice but by some error or frailty.” In Shakespeare, tragedy is in large part caused by a flaw in character and/or misjudgment. In Harry Potter, Severus Snape can be seen as a tragic hero, though he is not the main character, his misjudgment is vital to the entire story.
