The casting of Swaziland-born actress Noma Dumezweni as the adult Hermione for the play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" has aroused some contention. Do "book-first" fans' ideas about Rowling's characters (not just Hermione) differ from those of "film-first" fans? Join us for a discussion of how and why various characters get perceived through particular lenses/assumptions by some groups of fans, and in quite different ways by others.
